A cutting list tells you what to cut. It doesn't tell you what to have on the van — and running short on hinges or screws mid-install is its own kind of wasted trip.
Hinges
Standard-height base and wall doors typically need a 2-hinge set. Full-height doors — tall units, wardrobes — need more support and generally take a 4-hinge set. Get this wrong in either direction and you've either under-supported a tall door or over-specced a small one.
Handles
One per door, one per drawer front — including wardrobe drawer fronts. Easy to undercount when a job mixes cabinet types, since the drawer-front count isn't always obvious from the carcase parts alone.
Shelf pins
Four per adjustable shelf is the common spec. Multiply by shelf count, not by cabinet count — taller units often carry two or three shelves each.
The hinge you didn't bring is always for the door at the top of the tallest unit on site.
Drawer slides
One set per drawer, and don't forget wardrobe drawer sections — they're easy to mentally file under "hanging storage" and skip.
Fixings
- Carcase assembly screws, sized to the board thickness
- A shorter screw for face frames and light fixings
- Wall-cabinet mounting screws — separate from carcase screws, and easy to forget until you're up the ladder
Wardrobe-specific: hanging rail
A single-hang section and a double-hang section need different rail lengths, and each run of rail needs end brackets roughly every 1m — miss the brackets and the rail sags under load.
